SpaceBorn United B.V. and SpaceBorn United Holding B.V. are the official Dutch companies behind our research and mission development activities, also presented under projectname SpaceLife Origin.
The foundations for the company originate in 2015 when Dr. Egbert Edelbroek became involved in Assisted Reproductive Technologies such as IVF. He started to combine IVF applications with his knowledge about and passion for space exploration into possible solutions for reproduction challenges in space.
Soon a growing international group of supporting experts and organisations (from both medical, ethical, space technological and legal perspectives) joined in conducting initial feasibility research on the Lotus and Cradle mission designs. The positive outcomes fueled the formal start and registration of SpaceBorn United as a Dutch company in 2017.
The development of the initial Ark mission design started in April 2018 and was later added to the missions program. We then added SpaceLife Origin as the projectname for our activities, as it is referred to in our press release and website.
